DAMASCUS, Md. (AP) — The parents of three Maryland high school students who were sexually assaulted by their football teammates in a hazing ritual have sued county school officials, saying officials ignored warnings about the attack.
The suit filed Thursday in Montgomery County accuses Damascus High School officials of neglect, ignoring threats and mishandling the assaults because of the school's successful football program.
Three junior varsity football players were sexually assaulted in a locker room in 2018. Four players indicted in the case pleaded guilty last year to being involved.
A spokesman for the school system said Thursday that officials will review the lawsuit before commenting.
