(AP) State environmental officials are holding a public hearing on a proposed hemp processing facility within Delaware's protected coastal zone.
Wednesday's hearing involves a request by New Castle-based AgroRefiner LLC to operate a hemp extraction facility in an existing warehouse in New Castle.
The operation would have a maximum capacity to process about 78,000 pounds of dried hemp each year and produce about 7,000 pounds of pure CBD for wholesale distribution.
CBD is a cannabis molecule that has become increasingly popular as an ingredient in the natural products industry.
CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it doesn't make users “high.”
