creative commons

Rehoboth Beach is looking at ways to cut down on the use of plastics.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the city’s environment committee is specifically considering action on products such as single-use bags and plastic bags as well as Styrofoam products.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that some options include a fee but not a ban on plastic bag use while encouraging the use of paper straws.

There could also be an outright ban on polystyrene which is a plastic foam that takes a long time to breakdown in the environment.

Dee Durham, president of Plastic Free Delaware, called action against these products as low hanging fruit in cutting down the amount of plastic being used in the resort.
