Delaware Hospital Scores Low on National Survey

Bayhealth Hospital

A recent national survey found Delaware’s newest hospital did not score well for safety making the Bayhealth Sussex Campus the worst in the Delaware health system.

The watchdog group Leapfrog surveys some 26-hundred hospitals around the nation every six months and gave the new facility a D.

Bayhealth’s chief medical officer Dr. Gary Siegelman told the Wilmington News Journal the reason for the low score had to do with this being the first time the health system has filled out the survey.

He said that the hospital had graded itself too harshly in certain categories.

Around 8 percent of hospitals in the survey received a D.

Meanwhile, other hospitals in Delaware received either an A or B for safety.
