creative commons

A 21-year-old woman in Worcester County was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for problems possibly related to vaping.

The family tells WBOC that she has been placed on and off ventilators throughout the week but is now off them for now.

Doctors say they believe she may have chemical pneumonia.

The family told the television station that she had used black market vaping products containing THC.

The hospital has confirmed that the patient is still at the facility.

The Centers for Disease Control reports there have been just over 18-hundred e-cigarette cases as of last month that are related to lung injuries.

37 deaths have been confirmed so far.
