No Comment from Governor's Office on Conflicts Over Turf Hotel Tax

official photo

There was no comment yesterday from Delaware Governor John Carney’s office in a question about Jaqueline Mette’s involvement a legal review of her brother’s Turf Hotel Tax.

The Wilmington News Journalreports that Mette serves on the governor’s four-person legal team that reviews legislation approved by the General Assembly.

It would benefit a proposed development by her brother John Paradee who sits on the board of DE Turf, a private sports complex near Frederica that would receive all of the tax revenue.

The News Journal reports that would amount to a million dollars.

And to complicate the issue it was state Senator Trey Paradee, his brother, who sponsored the measure.

The hotel tax has yet to be approved by Kent County officials.
