New Lodging Tax for Some Delaware Towns

creative commons

It could become a little more expensive to stay a hotel or motel in some Delaware cities.

The state legislature approved a measure that would allow them to impose a lodging tax of up to 3 percent.

Georgetown is set to impose a tax beginning November 1st.

Town Manager Gene Dvornick told WBOC that the money would go into the general fund and be used for street projects and downtown beautification.

Meanwhile, the television station reports that Rehoboth Beach is set to discuss such a tax on Monday while Seaford has already introduced a tax proposal that will get a second reading August 13.

But the town of Millsboro has decided not to impose such a tax.
