official photo

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue made a stop at the Delaware State Fair yesterday.

He told farmers that administration was providing more than $14 billion to help those who are suffering the Trump administration trade disputes.

WBOC reports that he said other countries are using tariffs and non-tariff barriers as a way to protect and develop their economies.

And, Perdue pointed to the large U.S. trade deficit.

As for China the secretary said that the Trump administration remains steadfast in getting a better trade deal with Beijing.

Local farmer Keith Shane told the television station that many soybean farmers have been hit by the trade war and hopes that a deal can be struck with China.

He would also like ratification of the new U.S./MexicoCanada trade deal.
