In Milford 36-year-old Kimberly Sterling has been charged in the death of her dog.

Her dog was left tethered outside on July 18th during the latest heat wave.

WBOC reports that she is being charged with cruelty to animals, failure to vaccinate it for rabies and failing to get a dog license.

Authorities found the dog suffering from an apparent heat stroke and rushed to get it immediate medical treatment.

But it died while in route.

The animal services unit said it found no shade or shelter for the dog.
