Another Potential Swamp-Cancer Death for a Chincoteague Pony

Tom Hunt

There’s been another likely victim of swamp-cancer among the Chincoteague pony heard.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the buyback owner of Cowboy Kisses a 2-year-old Palomino filly was euthanized last week.

In a Chincoteague Legacy Group Facebook posting Joyce Glorioso wrote that it is likely the pony had contracted the infections although the vet is not certain.

Swamp cancer is a fungus-like disease that has caused seven other recent deaths among the Chincoteague pony herd.

The Legacy Group bought the pony at auction and returned it to live out its life on Assateague Island.
