creative commons

The Delaware Department of Transportation will be closing the northbound Route 1 bridge over the Lewes Rehoboth Canal beginning September 23rd for replacement.

The two southbound lanes will remain open until the work is done.

Then, the south bound lanes will be closed while two other lanes remain open.

WBOC reports that transportation officials say additional work will range from correcting vertical alignment and replacing joints to strengthening and sealing concrete piers.

DelDOT says that work on Route 1 will begin on July 15th and will be done overnight on the weekends until the September 23rd date for the lane closures.
