Replacement of Dividing Creek Bridge, Closed for 10 Weeks

MD Gov

The bridge over Dividing Creek along the Somerset/Worcester county lines will be closed for ten weeks which began last Thursday.

The work to replace the span will cost $2.3 million and will reopen by the beginning of the school year.

Maryland State Highway Administration told WBOC that the accelerated schedule is an effort to accommodate local agriculture.

Around a 1,000 vehicles cross Maryland 364 with most of them hauling grain to Westover during the fall harvest.

The new bridge will be some 55-feet long and 13 feet wide.

In addition, it will accommodate bicycle traffic with a three foot wide path across the bridge.

WBOC reports that state officials recommend motorists use US Routes 13 and 113 as well as Old Snow Hill Road MD 756and Public Landing Road MD 12.
