Wicomico County in State's Top Five for STD's

Wicomico County is in Maryland’s top five for the sexually transmitted diseases of chlamydia and gonorrhea for 2018.

That’s according to the recently released Maryland STI Annual Report.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Wicomico County came in second for case of gonorrhea and third for chlamydia.

The paper reports that Ken Ruby with the Maryland Health Department said that it is not clear why the STD rates in Wicomico County and elsewhere are so high.

The Coalition of STD Directors puts part of the problem with a lack of education and the changing landscape for sexually transmitted diseases.
