More Dead Dolphins Wash Ashore in Delaware

MERR Institute

Around 12 Dolphins have washed up on the shores of Delaware this year.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that a decomposed bottlenose was found in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday while another was discovered at Cape Henlopen State Park on Monday.

It is not clear what caused their deaths.

The MERR Institute says eight of the 12 found so far this year were bottlenose.

Some were found along the Delaware Bay on Bowers Beach and Slaughter Beach last month.

Suzanne Thurman with the Institute said that the deaths appear to be from natural causes.

The Institute warns those who come across a dead Dolphin to notify them immediately.
