Cut in Meals for Seniors Expected by MAC Inc.

PAC 14

A redistribution of state funds could leave some seniors without meals through MAC Inc. which serves the elderly on the Lower Shore.

WBOC reports that the Maryland Department of Aging is reallocating resources statewide based on population trends.

The department is pointing to the increase in the number of elderly in urban areas.

MAC Executive Director Pattie Tingle told the television station that the cuts would lead to a reduction of more than 15-thousand meals for seniors on the Lower Shore.

The agency says it expects a reduction of 46 percent or around $113-thousand affecting up to 150 seniors.

The cuts are expected to take effect on July 1st.
