Delaware Considers Decriminalizing Underage Drinking

creative commons

Delaware lawmakers are looking at decriminalizing underage drinking and alcohol possession.

The measure was approved by the state Senate that would instead make it a civil offense.

WBOC reports that the legislation would also suspend the driver’s license or impose a fine those under 21 who were found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The suspension could last a month for the first offense.

Subsequent offenses would run from 90 to as much as 180 days.
