Some MD Drivers Must Comply with Real ID by Next Month

Motor Vehicle Administration

More than 66-thousand Marylanders have not yet brought in the needed documents for the new Real ID star license or identification cards.

State officials say they have notified these residents a number of times since December on the requirement.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that if they do not comply Maryland officials say they will begin to flag these drivers and identification cards in next month as “recalled.”

The paper reports that officials say that police will confiscate the licenses of drivers who have not upgraded to the real ID requirement.

Motorists are urged to come to their local Motor Vehicle Administration office as soon as possible.

The overall deadline for a Real ID is October 1st of next year.

Around 2.3 million people have fulfilled the Read ID requirement in Maryland out of around 5 million residents with a license or identification cards.
