The visitors just wouldn’t stop approaching the ponies in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

So the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company moved the herd over the weekend to the southern corral on Assateague Island.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the company’s Facebook page says they tried to educate the public about the dangers of getting too close to the ponies including putting out flyers.

But, it added, people still did dangerous things.

The ponies will be held in the corral until the spring roundup on April 12th and 13th.
