There’s another referendum coming for residents in the Indian River School District.
The school board voted 7-to-1 to propose another measure that would raise property taxes to deal with the increasing enrollment.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the proposal would pay for the costs for adding classrooms at the Indian River High School and the Selbyville Middle School.
In addition, it would pick up the cost for a new Sussex Central High School building.
The referendum would ask residents to pay around $20 less than the previous failed referendum that called for a tax increase of 35 cents per $100 of assessed property value.
The measure does this by not including the costs of subsequent expenses that would accompany the additional buildings.
Enrollment stand at nearly 11-thousad which is a 188-student jump since last fall.
