publicity photo

The National Folk Festival has made its first announcement of the performers who will be taking the state this year in Salisbury.

The acts range from musicians to dancers.

Among the Latin performers are Adonis Puentes & The Voice of Cuba Orchestra and Aurelio Martinez who brings the sounds of the Central American Caribbean coast.

Swing guitar and fiddle in the Western music tradition will be delivered by the Hot Club of Cowtown while the Jerry Douglas Trio will feature blue grass on steel guitar.

There’s also some soul blues from Eddie Cotton from Mississippi.

Rounding out the musical groups is Innov Gnawa with a Moroccan sound.

The dancers include South India traditions by Yamini Kalluri & the Carnatic Ensemble and the Jones Denally Family with a hoop dance from the Navajos.
