Delmarva AG's Join Lawsuit Against Emergency Declaration

Delaware has become one of 16 states who have filed a federal lawsuit to stop the President Trump’s emergency declaration from going into effect.

The president is looking to reallocate several billion dollars from other parts of the federal budget for building a wall along the southern border.

Delaware argues that any diversion of funds from the state National Guard, the Dover Air Force Base and other military projects along with drug interdiction would harm residents of the state.

It said the diversion would deplete the state’s economy and drain it of needed fiscal resources.

In addition, to the First State Virginia and Maryland have also joined the suit.

Maryland’s Attorney General Brian Frosh called the president’s declaration an “abuse of executive authority”.

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring accused the president of “concocting a fake emergency to build a needless wall” that goes against the Constitution and American values.
