With the cold weather the mid-shore is opening up shelters.

That ranges from Winter Haven in Caroline County and the Delmarva Community Services in Dorchester County to the Samaritan Group in Kent County, the Haven Ministries in Queen Anne’s County and the Talbot Interfaith Shelter in Talbot County.

Meanwhile, some of the shelters in the Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester County area range from the Christian Shelter and Halo in Salisbury to Diakonia in Ocean City, the Lower Shore Shelter in Princess Anne and the Samaritan Shelter in Pocomoke City.

Delaware

Parts of Delaware are experiencing a Code Purple because of the cold temperatures.

Those seeking shelter can contact the Newark Empower Center which will direct people to overnight stays at a group of churches.

In Kent County for men seeking shelter there are the Centennial United Methodist Church in Smyrna and the People’s Church in Dover.

For women the Marantha Life Changing Church in Dover is taking them in.

Meanwhile, in Sussex County a collection of churches in the western part are open while in the eastern part there is the Immanuel Shelter in Rehoboth beach that will take men and women.
