Delaware Treasurer-Elect Faces Jury Trial for Suspended License

There’s a jury trial coming in the life of Delaware State Treasurer-elect Colleen Davis.

She is fighting two misdemeanors and three traffic citations from her arrest in November.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Davis has pleaded not guilty and has requested a jury trial.

The paper said that could be a first step toward a plea agreement that would avoid jail time.

The News Journal says she did not respond to a request for comment.

The charges stem from driving with a suspended license.

The court records show this is the fourth time she has been charged with the offense.

Davis could face six months in jail and a $500 fine and a suspension of her driver’s license.

Pleading guilty to a lesser charge could allow her to avoid jail time.
