Christiana Care Health System Ups Minimum Wage to $15

Don Rush

The minimum wage in the Christiana Care Health System is going up to $15 an hour.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that this will effect around 500 employees.

Most of them do clerical, technical or service work.

Christiana Care President and CEO Janice Nevin called the move “the right thing to do for the health of our community.”

She noted that there is a strong correlation between financial health and physical health.

The move comes after Amazon said it was raising its minimum wage to $15 which is above the federal state minimum wages.

For the feds it’s $7.25 an hour and for the state it is $8.25 an hour.

The state wage is set to rise to $9.25 an hour next October.
