Conservationists are looking to restore the old Phillips Packing House in Cambridge.

It was built in the 1920’s and employed nearly 10-thousand people who packed vegetables and shucked oysters.

WBOC reports that the non-profit Preservation Maryland is seeking to assist the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy to restore the structure which is expected to cost $22 million.

Conservancy Vice President Katie Parks told the television station that the structure could be the location for a brewery or restaurants.

Meanwhile, the packing house could fit in with a nearby efforts to restore a stream for a new park that is located next to the packing house.

Every year Preservation Maryland looks for six historic sites around the state to help restore and preserve.
