Charitable Groups Look for Holiday Donations

It’s that time again when many local charity organizations are looking for some help to assist those in need.

WBOC reports that the Christian Shelter in Salisbury says it is looking for children’s coats for many who have been evicted from their homes.

James Barnes, head of the shelter, told the television station that the facility has accommodated nearly 1-thousand people this year adding that a third of them were children.

Meanwhile, the Maryland Food Bank is casting about for canned goods and other non-perishables.

Regional director Jennifer Small noted that hunger does not take a holiday.

She told the television station that this week the group packed nearly 900 food boxes that will be provided to families throughout the region.

The Food Bank says there are around 42-thousand people on the Eastern Shore who suffered from food insecurity.
