Delaware Jewish community reflects on the loss of 11 people killed in the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue. Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush spoke with Jennifer Steinberg, co-chair of the Jewish Community Relations Committee for the Jewish Federation of Delaware beginning with when she first heard the news.
Anti-Semitic Incidents Up
Meanwhile, Delaware saw 12 anti-Semitic incidents.
That’s four times more than the previous year according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Jeremy Bannett with the ADL in Philadelphia which includes Delaware told the Wilmington News Journal that the numbers may seem small but are a sign of longer term trouble in the coming years.

Meanwhile, the FBI reports that there were a total of 15 hate crime incidents reported in 2016.
In 2010 there had been 20 such incidents.
The numbers for 2017 won’t be released until later this year.
Jennifer Steinberg co-chair of the Jewish Community Relations Committee told the paper that even when there are low-key acts of hatred it represents a breakdown in civil society.
