Delaware Police Chief Faces DUI Trial

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A jury trial is set to start for a Delaware police chief accused of drunken driving.

Delaware State News reports 48-year-old Clayton Police Chief Brian C. Hill goes to trial Monday on a misdemeanor first offense DUI of alcohol charge. Court records say a state police trooper found Hill's disabled vehicle parked on railroad tracks on night in 2017.

Hill was placed on paid leave two weeks following his arrests and acting police chief was appointed. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in October 2017 and requested a jury trial.

Hill and his attorney filed a motion this year to suppress his breathalyzer results. A judge declined, saying the trooper reported Hill admitted to the charge and asked the trooper "to help him out of a bad situation."
