Salisbury University students could soon find themselves residing in the area now known as the Court Plaza Shopping Center.

University officials are looking to redevelop the center for housing and some commercial space and hope to begin work as early as next summer.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Salisbury University Foundation bought the shopping center, the former Temple Hill Motel and a commercial office space last year.

Foundation executive director Jason Curtin told the paper that it is not every day that nine acres becomes available so the university moved quickly to snatch it up.

The foundation bought the three properties for $6 million.

The 8.6 acres will provide 375-thousand square feet with a corner lot facing Route 13.

It purchased the land from Delcon International of Delawar, a Chinese investment firm.
