Three Weeks for Repair of Bay Bridge-Tunnel

Chesapeake Bay and Bridge-Tunnel website

It will take around three weeks to repair the damage done to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel when a heavy piece of equipment on a tractor-trailer struck the ceiling and fell onto the roadway.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that all lanes had been closed for 17 hours reopening last Tuesday morning.

The work will involve demolition and replacement of concrete and tiles.

The repairs will be done overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. with the closure of a single lane.

The paper reports that traffic will be moved around the work area and should be done by the end of this month.
