Lewes Considers Parking Permits in Crowded Downtown

Don Rush

The City of Lewes is now looking at permits as some near the downtown area are finding downtown parking more difficult these days battling tourists and employees.

City Manager Anne Marie Townsend told WBOC that right now all the parking is public.

She said if the resort imposes permits they would allow visitors to park for an hour or two resulting in more turnover.

The television station reports the city is still looking at alternatives in resorts such as Rehoboth and Dewey Beach as well as a permit policy in Key West.
