For the first time since the late 1800’s no train will be servicing the Southern Eastern Shore of Virginia.
The Bay Coast Railroad decided in May to end its operations in the region.
WBOC reports that towns like Onley say they will miss the trains that rumbled through the city.
Council member Matt Hart told the television station that the trains allowed produce like strawberries to be carried to the northeast.
He lives right beside the railroad tracks and the sound of the train could be heard as it headed through town.
It’s uncertain what the future now holds for the old tracks.
