Delaware Man Accuses Doctor and Drug Company of Causing Addiction

A lawsuit has been brought by a Kent County man says a local doctor and a pharmaceutical company prescribed unnecessary opioid prescription that led to his addiction.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the suit was filed against Maryland Doctor Eva Dickinson and her former practice for allegedly ignoring the patient’s health needs.

In addition, the lawsuit accuses Insys Therapeutics of encouraging the writing of unnecessary dangerous prescriptions.

The News Journal reports that the doctor and the pharmaceutical company face indictments in other states related to opioids.

The paper reports that efforts to reach the Dickenson and the company were unsuccessful.

Her practice has been closed.

The suit was filed on behalf of Herbert Tisher and his wife and was described by their attorney Philip Edwards as another step in holding companies responsible for the overdose epidemic.
