Fees Going Up at Assateague Island National Seashore

It will cost more for someone to get into the Assateague Island National Seashore next month.

WBOC reports that starting May 1st the per person entrance will now be $10.

Other fees will remain the same.

But beginning January 1st 2020 the entrance fee will rise to $15 per person while per vehicle cost will rise to $25.

In addition, the motorcycle fee will cost $20 and an annual pass will be $45.

At least 80 percent of the money will be funneled back into Assateague Island National Seashore.

The television station reports that the additional funds will go to replace the guard rail along Bayberry Drive and outdated wayside exhibits.
