A Civil Rights Icon Speaks Out on Race and Protest

Salisbury University

It has been over 50 years since the Civil Rights movement ended the era of Jim Crow and segregation. Diane Nash was part of that movement organizing lunch counter sit-ins in Nashville. She later went on to become part of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. But, these days racial polarization seems to have been raised to a fever pitch as we pass from the first African American president to Donald Trump's ascension to the White House. Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush caught up with Nash during an appearance on the campus of Salisbury University to talk about her experiences and the future of the country.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
