Charges have been dismissed against Salisbury Council member April Jackson and another woman who were involved in an altercation in the Billy Gene Jackson Park in Salisbury.

WBOC reports that when the assault charges were dismissed Jackson quickly exited the courtroom with tears of joy.

Jackson told the television station that the incident had ruined her reputation and could have endangered position on the city council.

Jarenea Mitchell said Jackson left her with scars resulting from the incident in August.

Despite being charged with 2nd degree assault both women maintain their innocence.
