The Delaware State Supreme Court has overturned the conviction of Trinity Carr for criminally negligent homicide in the beating death of fellow student Amy Joyner-Francis at a Wilmington high school in April of 2016.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Carr who was 17 at the time had been found guilty by a Family Court judge of criminally negligent homicide and third-degree criminal conspiracy last year.

Joyner-Francis was 16 year-old when she was attacked by Carr and two others at Howard High School of Technology.

After her death the state medical examiner found she died of a heart attack.

The high court found that no reasonable person could have known that the attack would could result in the risk of death.
