NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A seventh-grader has been charged with threatening to shoot students at a Virginia middle school.

The Virginian-Pilot reports Norfolk police arrested the Lake Taylor Middle School student Monday and charged him with threatening classmates with death or bodily injury while they were at school.

That same day, Nansemond River High School students in Suffolk notified staff of an Instagram post that threatened to shoot students on Tuesday. Nansemond Principal Daniel O'Leary says in a released letter that police are investigating the threat and extra police will be on campus.

On Friday, police learned of threats to shoot people at Western Branch High School in Chesapeake. Chesapeake police spokeswoman Kelly Elliott says no charges have been filed as of Monday afternoon and extra security will be at the school Tuesday.
