Natural Gas Pipeline Project for Eastern Shore

creative commons

The Eastern Shore could be getting a natural gas pipeline at a cost of $1.2 billion.

The Delmarva Pipeline Company has offered up a plan that would run through Cecil County down into Kent, Queen Anne’s, Caroline and Dorchester counties.

The company said that they would be privately funded and could be up and running in three years.

It has the backing of Republican Delegate Carl Anderton who told WBOC that increasing the infrastructure for energy is something the region really wants.

The company says it would lower costs and bring jobs to the region.

But there was a word of caution from Republican State Senator Steve Hershey who said that there must be a balance between the economy and the environment.

Democratic Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes was also cautious telling the television station that the concerns of local citizen must be central to the project.
