Delaware Drops in Hospital Safety Survey

creative commons

Delaware has dropped dramatically in hospital safety according to a new national report.

It tied with the District of Columbia and North Dakota for 49th place.

Just five years ago it ranked in the top 10.

The best scores in the First State went to Beebe Healthcare and two Christiana Care Health System hospitals.

They received a grade of B.

Meanwhile, Bayhealth Kent General, Nanticoke Memorial and St. Francis received a C grade.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Delaware hospital officials assured the public that patient safety was a top priority.

They added that some of the survey data does not reflect recent changes in safety policy.

The watchdog group Leapfrog drew information from patient surveys and data from the CMS, and the American Hospital Association.
