The American Civil Liberties of Maryland has filed a lawsuit that calls on the Salisbury Police Department to release documents about a 2014 settlement involving the alleged use of excessive force.
The civil liberties group along with an organization called The Real News Network says that failure to release those documents violated the Maryland Public Information Act.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the city, Salisbury Police Department and the city's public information 0fficer Chris Demone are the defendants in the case.
The paper says that Demone referred inquiries to attorney Skip Cornbrooks who declined to comment.
The Daily Times also says that Chief Barbara Duncan also declined to comment.
The case involved three Salisbury University Students.
They claim that they had sustained physical and emotional injuries due to excessive force.
