Wicomico County Executive Calls Audit "Witch Hunt"

bob culver campaign website

Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver called it a witch hunt.

He was referring to an audit into – what has been termed – a potentially fraudulent letter recommending a raise for a county employee.

Culver charged that members on the county council were engaged in wasting taxpayer dollars to “advance their own political agenda”.

His criticism comes after the county council decided not to proceed because of what the auditor said was a lack of cooperation and transparency.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the letter in question was sent to the former county finance director Leslie Lewis who was fired by Culver.

Lewis has said she did not write or have knowledge of the letter.

Culver offered up emails to reporters that he said proved she was aware of the letter.

But Council President John Cannon said the emails were too vague and do not corroborate Culver’s claim.
