Don Rush

Tourists flocked to Delmarva for the Memorial Day weekend.

In Ocean City an estimated 200-thousand to 300-thousand showed up despite the overcast skies.

Jessica Waters with the resort told the Salisbury Daily Times that there were still great crowds.

The paper also reports that there were few traffic jams or accidents.

In Delaware the resort towns also experienced a brisk business.

But Wilmington News Journal reports there were lower than expected sales by resort businesses.- Select -

Ken Williams, general manager of the Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille in Rehoboth Beach told the paper that sales were down but that it wasn’t catastrophic.

Mitch Mitchell, co-owner of Coastal Kayak on Fenwick Island, told the paper that the cloudy skies did effect his business.

Meanwhile, in Salisbury a gathering took place at the Wicomico County War Veterans Memorial to remember the sacrifice of those who served in the military service.

In Bethany Beach there was also a service for Memorial Day.
