Whoever catches the first white marlin the season will get a $5-thousand cast prize from Ocean City.

In addition, another $5-thousand will be given by a coalition that wants to continue the annual traditional.

Mayor Rick Meehan told WBOC that the resort is the White Marlin Capital of the World.

Meanwhile, the television reports that anglers who belong to the Ocean City Marlin Club or who are aboard a member boat will get another $5-thousand.

That would make the total take $15-thousand.
