The fire in Crisfield that took three lives including those of two children apparently was started by a malfunctioning electrical system.

The blaze was sparked by a receptacle behind a sofa in the front room.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the three victims have been identified as 44 year-old Jennifer Cooper, 16 year-old Angelina Pinkston and 5 month-old Kaiden Pace.

They succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

Around 140 students and staff at Crisfield Academy and High School raised funds for the funeral service.

Students gave $1 while staff members gave $2.

They dressed up in the school colors as part of the fundraising effort.

Some students wore T-shirts in memory of Pinkston who was a student at the Academy and J.M. Tawes Technology and Career Center in Westover.
