More than 12 inches of rain hit Sussex County yesterday with a coastal flood watch this morning and a flash flood watch warning.
Areas include include the counties of Worcester, Wicomico, Sussex, Kent Delaware, and Caroline.
The heaviest rains hit the eastern portion of the county with strong winds whipping through the region.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that Harbeson received the highest rainfall of just over 12 inches with Stockely coming in at just over 9 inches.
Other towns like Delmar and Selbyville, Georgetown got between 5 and six inches of rainfall.
A number of campuses delayed their openings while Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown closed for the day.

In Ocean City there was intermittent flooding with Coastal Highway and Philadelphia Avenue had the most problems.
On the Lower Shore there was up to 9 and a half inches of rain the heaviest seen in Snow Hill.
There were also sinkholes appearing on some roadways in Salisbury as well as the forced evacuation of the Canal Woods condominiums.
A number of schools delayed opening yesterday including Salisbury University.
Meanwhile, the Salisbury Daily Times reports…that the University of Maryland Eastern Shore cancelled classes yesterday.
There were power outages were also seen in Somerset County as well as heavy flooding in Crisfield.
