ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) - Property and business owners are getting their first look inside buildings damaged by a flash flood more than a week ago in Ellicott City.
The Howard County government says those affected by the July 30 flood were allowed to return Sunday to remove trash and debris from their properties.
The county says support agencies have no more room to store donated clothes and furniture. They're asking people to donate money instead.
The county says a disaster assistance center has served 96 businesses and 102 residents, including 14 who needed temporary housing.
The county says nearly 250 vehicles were found damaged or abandoned after the flood. Of those, 25 were still unclaimed as of Saturday.
The evening flood killed two people and devastated the city's historic district.
