White Marlin Open to Bring Thousands to Ocean City

White Marlin Open website

Get ready for the White Marlin Open.

It begins in Ocean City next week when over 300 fishing boats expected to go out to find the biggest marlins they catch.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that it is the biggest billfish tournament in the world with some 2-thousand participant last year.

Jim Motsko, president of the tournament, told the paper that in years past the minimum length and weight for a blue marlin was 120 inches and 500 pounds.

He said the event was the highlight of the fishing season.
