WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Officials say a pilot suffered minor injuries after a small plane crashed at the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that a deer ran across the runway at the airport when a Cessna 150 aircraft was landing Wednesday afternoon, causing the plane to veer off the side of the runway.
State Police Sgt. Michele Anaya says the plane landed in a marshy area off the north side of the runway. Anaya says the pilot was located by the James City County Fire Department and taken to the airport with some scrapes and bruises.
The FAA says the pilot, whom state police identified as Michal Marcin Drygala of Williamsburg, was the only person on board the plane. The FAA says it's investigating the crash.
