An alleged embezzlement scheme involving millions from the Malaysian government dragged eight limited liability companies based in Delaware into the scandal.

The U.S. Justice Department announced that a number of Malaysian officials took money from their country’s economic development account and passed it through a number of front companies.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that prosecutors specifically cited TWOWS LLC based in Delaware.

The paper reports that prosecutors say there were at least 11 transactions amounting to $64 million that found their way to fund the film, “The Wolf of Wall Street” and other expenses at Red Granite Pictures Incorporated.

The embezzlement case comes on the heels of another scandal involving the so-called Panama papers in which off-shore accounts were used to hide assets for transnational criminals.

The News Journal reports that at the time Delaware Secretary of State Jeffery Bullock said that the state had taken measures to prevent fraud.
